Study III: Twisting Scripture
There
is nothing God will not let us go through that we cannot handle. What an
absolute fallacy! First, We need God for EVERYTHING! Therefore, we cannot
handle anything alone. Secondly, God will allow hardships in our life because
He wants to refine us into the person He wants us to be. Thirdly, God allows
hardships because He wants you to draw near Him. Psalm 34: 18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a
broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit (KJV). Do not
blame God, God will NEVER let you down. Face it and confess it, for everything
God wants us to do we let Him down. God knows what is best for us and He wants
a relationship with us, after all He is our Father in Heaven. How you handle
the situation and the end result depends on your TRUST in God.
Where
does this Fallacy derive from? The twisting of Gods Words in 1 Corinthians
10:13. “There hath no temptation taken
you but such as is common to man: but God is
faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but
will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear
it” (KJV)
"There hath no temptation taken
you but such as is common to man:...". This says
temptation has no power over us but it is common for man (us) to think so. Do
not let Satan allow you to think temptation controls you. Temptation is
powerful. However, it is a choice and the wrong choice is only a temporal
pleasure, which is why the sinner is a repeated offender or user.
Here
is the part of the scripture where the Word of God got twisted into a fallacy. "[B]ut God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;...".
God is FAITHFUL because He promises that He WILL not allow you to suffer beyond
what you are able to handle that it so much FORCES you to SIN.
What
does God promise? "[B]ut will with
the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (KJV). An escape! God promises us an
escape so that we will not be forced to sin. Sinning is because we are tempted
by the work of Satan, notice it is NOT Satan almighty. Again, sinning is a
choice because the Lord Almighty provides at least one escape. So, there is no
reason to blame God, just yourself for making the wrong decision. But guess
what? "... {He} saveth such as be of a contrite spirit"
(KJV). Be remorseful and repent and God will forgive. What an amazing God.
Notice the last bit of the scripture,
"... that ye may be able to bear it” (KJV). I see the words "may be able" as God saying it is
your choice. In other words I think God is saying, you may be able to bear it
if you draw near to Me (our choice) because I am faithful (God promises) I will
be near you so that you can bear it.
So thankful for how God is helping you in your Bible Studies, Eric! May He continue to bless you.
